WordPress child themes are based on the parent theme and are changed without modifying the code of the parent theme. If you need to manually add some codes to your theme’s files, you can do so without having to overwrite it. Thus, when you update the parent theme, the recent changes will remain intact.

If your child theme is available in WordPress.org, go to the WordPress Dashboard, go to Appearance >> Themes, and press on the Add New button. On the right top, you will witness a search theme box where you can type the theme name. You can then view the details and preview before you Press install. Once the installation is complete, you can activate the theme using Active bottom and then start to customize your site.

Mostly, the Child theme is available as a zip file, then you need to follow this step we discussed previously.

  • Go to the menu Appearance >>Themes and press on Add New button.
  • Click over the Upload Theme button.
  • Press the Select File button and select the unzipped theme package on your computer.
  • Look for a file called UltraPress.zip and press on it to select and then click OK.
  • Press the Install Now button and wait for the installation is complete.
